4D Analytics

Attribute Introduction

Note: Attributes were formerly known as Properties, and there may be places within 4D Analytics where they are still referred to as Properties.

Attributes are a useful tool for applying information to containers and points. They can be used for by data collectors to identify containers and points, to add extra details that could be used to link to external applications or hardware. The attributes can be text or numeric and there is no limit to the number of attributes that can be assigned to a single item.

Attribute Library

There is a library of attributes, which for new systems will contain few attributes but will grow over time.

To view the attribute library, select ‘Attribute Library’ from the Administration menu.

Attribute Groups

The Attribute Groups feature was created to gather certain attributes and make them searchable in the Digital Twin Explorer Search tool. When attributes become searchable, they will appear in the Attribute Name drop-down (below). This makes it easier to search by having a shorter list to look through.

The Attribute Groups feature works by displaying the current groups and the attributes attached to them, as well as those attributes that are unassigned.
